34 Felony Convictions: Hush Money Trial

Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to a porn actress before the 2016 election — the first U.S. president ever convicted of a felony.

On May 30, 2024, a Manhattan jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The charges stemmed from a scheme to conceal $130,000 in hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 election.

The payments were funneled through Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen and disguised in Trump Organization records as legal retainer fees — a deliberate falsification intended to hide their true purpose: silencing Daniels about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump.

The jury deliberated for approximately 12 hours over two days before returning a unanimous guilty verdict on all counts. Trump became the first current or former U.S. president in history to be convicted of a felony.

On January 10, 2025 — just ten days before his second inauguration — Trump received an unconditional discharge, meaning he was sentenced but given no jail time, probation, or fine. The conviction stands on his record.
